MANKATO, Minn. -

One person has been exonerated and another has been charged after an assault in downtown Mankato last year.

The incident happened on September 2 along the 100-block of Cherry Street.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Blue Earth County Court yesterday, Jordan Hansen was initially charged with assault after a man was punched and sustained a broken nose and head trauma.

The complaint says the incident took place while a group of people were waiting in a shelter for a taxi.

However, court documents say Benjamin Altobelli later contacted Hansen's attorney, and provided a statement which exonerated Hansen.

The complaint goes on to say it was 27-year-old Altobelli who punched the victim.

Altobelli has since been charged with felony assault in connection with the alleged incident. According to court records, an upcoming court date for Altobelli has not yet been set.
