MVAC Head Start Adopts "Strong Fathers, Strong Families" Training

Posted: Updated:

Minnesota Valley Action Council's Head Start program hosted an (training) event focusing on the importance of a father or father figure in a child's development.

The founder and President of the group "Strong Fathers, Strong Families" spent the morning training hundreds of people stressing the importance of fathers being a part of their child's life. With MVAC being the first program in Minnesota to have the Strong Fathers, Strong Families program, goals have already been set. J. Michael Hall, said, "Head start and early head start is working with kids 0 to 5 years old and we know that number 1 with their development. That getting both parents on board is really important but we also know that when we get dad on board and we get dad connected to the kid and his role as a father. Regardless of the family situation, that dad is more likely to be involved later in life."

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 1 out of 3 children in America live in a home without their biological father.
