Changes Coming to SCC Administration

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. -

South Central College undergoes a big restructuring, just as the fall semester gets underway.

SCC isn't specifying how many positions were cut, but has released a list of all the departments that will be merging together going forward.

Leaders at the college say the move was geared toward more instruction at the faculty level.

SCC President Annette Parker says, "We know the research shows that the more faculty spend time with students in and out of class contributes to their success."

The changes were announced to faculty on Thursday.

Major aspects of the plan include: (according to information provided by South Central College)

Combining Academic and Student Affairs Departments.

Establishment of a new Workforce Education and Training division by combining Business, Health, Technology and Engineering programs.

Combining three existing dean positions into a new position of Dean of Workforce Education and Training.

Realignment of Center of Business and Industry under the direction of the new Dean of Workforce Education and Training (to be named at a later date).

Realignment of College Readiness programs with their respective disciplines in the Liberal Arts Division.

Combining the Human Resources, Marketing, and Safety and Security Departments to create a new Department of Employee and College Relations.

Combining the Business Office, Facilities, and Technology Departments to create a new Department of Operations and Technical Services.

Creating a new position, Executive Director for Faribault Campus and Community, to monitor Faribault campus activities.
