Unanimous green lights Monday night at the Mankato city council for three projects; the biggest one being the Tailwind Redevelopment Project in downtown Mankato.
Tailwind is a redevelopment of Miller Motors and Red Sky Lounge properties that will include a seven story office building and four story mixed use building.
City Manager Pat Hentges says the multimillion dollar project will bring close to 50 jobs to the city center permanently.
And council members Monday night called it a good project. All goes according to plan, site clearing and demolition could start November 1.
Mankato City Council Member Mark Frost says, "I guess I've heard over the years sometimes people getting in the way to some extent, and we're not getting in the way. This is happening, which is great to see. "
Also getting a unanimous green light: early plans for a new Kia Dealership on four acres near Rasmussen College at Victory Drive and Highway 14, and the first phase of the Bridge Plaza Project at the former Embers site in downtown Mankato.
That project is planned to be a five story mixed commercial and condo building.
Next, developers of those two projects will have to submit building plans to the city.
