A man escapes serious injury after an alleged hit-and-run in Mankato.
Around 2:30 Monday morning, Mankato police responded to the intersection of Pleasant and Center Streets. The alleged victim, told police he was out walking with several friends when a motorist stopped and asked for a lighter. Mankato Public Safety, Patrol Sergeant, Adam Gray, said, "A black male driving a white SUV asked the male victim for a lighter. When the male victim got in front of the vehicle, the driver accelerated - causing the male victim to go up onto the hood of the vehicle. He was then carried on the vehicle for approximately 45 feet before falling off."
The victim told officers he did not know the driver and the incident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to call 507-387-8780.
