Finally, a bit of good news for Viking fans in what's otherwise been a dismal season.
Wide Receiver Cordarrelle Patterson Wednesday was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Patterson won the award for his performance Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers, which included an NFL record kick return of 109 yards for a touchdown to open the game. The rookie totaled 228 yards on kick returns for the night.
He's the first Vikings rookie return man to get the honor since Percy Harvin did it in 2009.
The Vikings are back in action Sunday at Noon against the Dallas Cowboys. That game will be shown on FOX 12 Mankato.
