A local company makes a significant donation to an international charity.
The North Mankato book publisher Capstone has donated 220,000 books to Books For Africa, an organization that sends children's schoolbooks to schools in Africa.
Books For Africa has provided 29 million textbooks to African schools over its 25–year history.
Considering Ghana has 10 million children, today's donation is very significant.
Thomas E. Warth, founder of Books For Africa, says,"This is one of the largest donations of new books we've ever received."
Patrick Plonski, Executive Director of Books ForAfrica, says, "New books, children's books, books about science topics like this, these are very much in demand..."
This is the tenth year Capstone has made a donation towards Books For Africa.
Each book costs 50 cents to send and each book is read by approximately 50 children.
