Vatican Not Worried About Reports Of NSA Spying

Posted: Updated:

The Vatican says it is not worried about reports that U-S security agencies spied on cardinals as they prepared to elect a new Pope in March.
An Italian magazine says the National Security Agency listened to telephone calls in and out of the Vatican....
This latest allegation comes as Spain's Prime Minister joined a growing list of European allies furious with Washington over spying on world leaders.
A Spanish newspaper reports the N-S-A tracked more than 60 million phone calls in Spain in just one month.
The Vatican says if the allegations are true, it is an embarrassing blow to an institution famous for its cloak and dagger like secrecy.
