Crash kills pedestrian near the Mankato Regional Airport

BLUE EARTH COUNTY, Minn. -

 

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle near the Mankato Regional Airport.
 
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that authorities received a report of a person walking down the middle of County Road 12 Saturday morning at 5:54 A.M.

A responding deputy checked the area, but was not able to immediately locate the individual. A short time later, that deputy discovered two vehicles pulled over on County Road 2, just east of the intersection with County Road 12.

The sheriff's office says the driver pulled over after he struck what he thought to be a deer. In turns out it was person.

Officials say 21-year-old Travis Albright of Cleveland, Minnesota died as a result of the incident.

The sheriff's office say 30-year-old Jacob Gilbert of Medford, Minnesota was the driver involved.

This incident remains under investigation.
