Nutcracker Performers Get Ready For Ballet

Meet some of the The Fine Arts Ballet students. This year they are very excited about their Nutcracker performance, but they say it's going to be a lot different than the previous seasons.Drake says, "It's very different from the traditional Nutcracker, not only because of that, but because it has a message that it portrays, it's not just a cute story."AnnMarie Drake has been directing the Nutcracker for 25 years, but tells us this time she has a completely different concept. This performance has incorporated some of Mankato's history and scenery into its set.AnnMarie Drake, Artistic director of the Fine Arts Ballet says, "We have a wonderful cast. We have a company of 9 young women and 6 young men, which is unusual. And we have local actors portraying people from the party scene. It's going to be a wonderful novel production. It's going to be a lot of fun."The performance will be held on Sunday the 24th at Mankato West High School at 2:30 and 7PM. Tickets are on sale at the box office for 15 dollars for adults and 12 dollars for children, seniors and handicapped.In Mankato, Maytal Levi KEYC News 12.
