The South Central Minnesota chapter of the American Red Cross is on track for a record year to provide for nearly 20,000 in Southern Minnesota alone.
The Red Cross has responded to 160 house fires and has helped nearly 500 fire victims so far in 2013.
Executive director Bob Meyer says the Mankato chapter hasn't just helped out locally, but nationally as well.
Meyer says, "Over the past 12 months we've sent dozens of local volunteers out to help other people across the United States that are hurt and hurting in places like Oklahoma, Illinois and Colorado."
Meyer says this year's aid is up 50 percent from 2012.
