With spring right around the corner, more rain is on its way too.
Blue Earth County is partnering with the Recycling Association of Minnesota to offer residents rain barrels and compost bins through a special program in selected communities throughout the state, Mankato being one of them.
Jean Lundquist, recycling coordinator with Blue Earth County says, "Rain water is what plants expect to normally get as opposed to pumping something out of a well. As for the compost, if people don't compost, they're really wasting a valuable, natural resource."
Rain barrels are being sold for 69 dollars and compost bins are going for $55.
All orders must be made online and be picked up on May 16th.
