Mankato Police Investigating a Synthetic Drug Possibly Linked to 2 Deaths

Posted: Updated:

The Mankato Public Safety is investigating a potentially deadly substance that could be linked to two Mankato deaths in the past week.

At this point, they are investigating the deaths of two young people. First, a 22 year old male and most recently a 17 year old girl.

At each location officers found a small, blue baggie, approximately 2 inches by 2 and a half inches that is covered with small gold crowns.

Director for Mankato Public Safety, Todd Miller says, "We believe that these baggies may have contained a substance in a pill or powder form, possibly synthetic LSD or synthetic cocaine, commonly called '2–C'. If you possess any of this substance or packaging, immediately contact police as we would like to speak with you. Do not consume it, and do not sell it or provide it to anyone."

Police say it's possible more of this substance is out there. If you have seen this certain kind of packaging or have any information regarding this potentially deadly drug, you are urged to call 9–1–1.
