Authorities Look for Information in Relation to Overnight Shooting in Mankato

MANKATO , MINN. -One person is dead after an overnight shooting in Mankato and authorities are still looking for any information connected to the incident.

 A news release from the Mankato Department of Public Safety says officers responded to a report of shots fired just before 2:00 Sunday morning. It happened at the Kato Entertainment Center on East Chestnut Street. According to the owner of the Kato Ballroom, the shooting
 occurred in the back parking lot of the establishment after a fight broke out inside.  The gathering held inside the venue consisted of 140 people in connection with South Sudanese group of MSU. 

 Authorities say a total of four people were shot. All were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. One person died, and the other three were treated for what's described as non-life-threatening injuries. One person is in custody in connection with the shooting and a hand gun was recovered.  
Authorities say two other people were arrested for obstruction of legal process.  Authorities are not sure what exactly caused the incident to occur  or if there was more than one disturbance leading up to the outbreak. But are certain that it is an isolated incident. 

Investigators are getting help from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
