The No. 6 MSU soccer team begins their 2015 season Friday against Southwestern Oklahoma State University at 3:00 p.m. at The Pitch.

The Mavericks went 22-1 last season, winning the NSIC regular season and postseason tournament titles. The NSIC coaches picked MSU to win the league again, this season. The NSCAA Preseason Poll ranked the Mavericks sixth in the country.

Minnesota State cruised through the preseason, winning all three exhibition games, leaving the Mavericks feeling confident.

MSU midfielder Dana Savino says, “We’re definitely ready. We’re all in shape after preseason. Everybody’s getting used to playing together, and all the freshmen are adapting, too. It’s really good to see everybody flowing. We’re ready to go.”

MSU head coach Brian Bahl says, “We’ll do our due diligence and know what they’re going to bring to the table and be prepared for a couple different options to utilize in that game. For the most part, we’ll just play our game, work hard, and hopefully put some balls in the back of the net.”
