Eat, Move, Sleep: Sticking to Your Resolutions

Posted: Updated:

Keeping resolutions.  Not everyone is able to keep them.  Erin Gonzalez, RD has some tips to help us keep those resolutions.  She says to make them “magnetic.”  Some of them can be negative and unpleasant to accomplish.

Gonzalez lists the tips to make them simple and measurable.

  • She says to cut out the negative and focus on what you can do – not what you can’t.
  • It’s also important to be flexible.  Getting derailed from your goal can happen.  Don’t see it as a failure – instead, make sure that you are able to get back on track – don’t get stuck on “all or nothing” thinking.  Getting off track once is acceptable - as–long as you make a plan to get back on track.
  • Make your goal known:  You will gain more support, and also will have more people around you to help you stay true to your goal.  Gonzalez says social media is a great place to do that.
  • Find support groups or join a 30-day challenge group – having more support around your will help you stick to your goal.  In fact, the Eat, Move, Sleep movement has its own 30-day challenge group – a link to it can be found here
