Hundreds Gear Up To Pedal Past Poverty

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds are gearing up to pedal to the limit for a cause in Mankato this weekend.

Around 45 teams of ten will compete in the fourth Pedal Past Poverty this Saturday.

The event, put on by Partners for Affordable Housing, benefits those experiencing a temporary housing crisis and works toward ending homelessness in the area.

Each team is responsible for raising at least $1,000, and so far competitors and sponsors have worked together to raise $40,000 toward the cause ...but they expect those numbers to rise closer to Saturday.

Executive Director for Partners for Affordable Housing Deb Newman said, "For us this is a really important fundraiser to help us on that quest of not only providing services for those in need today, but also to look forward to the future and how can we expand our services based on the needs we're seeing here in the Mankato area."

You can still register on a team until Friday.
