Farmers Gather In New Ulm To Talk About Agricultural Issues

NEW ULM, Minn. -

The Minnesota National Farmers Convention took place this morning in New Ulm.

Farmers from around the area gathered to listen to the current dairy price crisis in which hundreds of tanker loads of milk have been dumped on the ground in the past few years by processors because of oversupply and the lack of processing capacity.

Members also discussed how things went financially along with guest speakers talking about ways to help make profit in a difficult harvesting time.

Vice President of Grain for Sunrise Co-op in Freemont, Ohio, Craig Haugaard said "Right now, we're in a pretty challenging time in agriculture. We've got a rare low price environment and we want to spend today talking about kind of what's going on from a holistic standpoint."

The term of National Director Reed Christensen of Battle Lake is up for re–election this year as well as that of Harold Marthaler as a trustee from Sauk Centre.
