Minnesotans Traveling More To Escape Cold

MANKATO , MINN. -

With the recent deep freeze Minnesota has been experiencing, travel agencies have been seeing an uptick in vacation bookings to warm places.

Amber Pietan of Amber Pietan Travel Agency says places such as Mexico and the Caribbean are as popular as ever for those looking to get away from the cold for a while.

"My average in bookings is probably two or three a day I would say and when it's cold it would double," Pietan said.  "I think they forget that it's this cold until it happens so definitely a lot more people are booking this time of year."

If you're looking to book a trip, now may be the time as the holidays are over and the cold is supposed to continue for the foreseeable future.
