House District 23B Special Election Approaching
Voters will need to act quickly in order to participate in the upcoming House 23B Special election.
The special election for the vacant seat will be held on Monday, February 12 with a potential primary on January 29 depending on the amount of candidates filing next Monday.
County officials say the fastest method is to register and prepare for voting is online at www.mnvotes.org
Once registered, voters have several options for ways to cast their ballots.
"They can vote in–person at their polling places. They can vote absentee if they request a ballot to be mailed to them," said Michael Stalberger, Director of Taxpayer Services for Blue Earth County. "They can also vote in–person during that period by coming to the county elections office. We did move this year, the elections office is new and it's been moved to the historic courthouse."
According to the BEC press release, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m on Election Day for all live precincts except Lyra and Shelby Townships.
Some townships will be able to vote by mail. In those cases, a ballot will be automatically mailed to the voter once registered.
District 23B covers rural parts of Blue Earth county (excluding the cities of Mankato and Eagle Lake) as well as Le Sueur, Waseca and Watonwan counties.
The Elections Office is located at the Historic Courthouse at 204 S. Fifth Street, Mankato, MN 56001
