Six organizations are working together to give those in need a bed to sleep on.

SS Boutique, Partners for Affordable Housing, Hilton Garden Inn, AmeriCorps, Volk Transfer and My Mankato Storage have joined together for the Build-A-Bed project.

Volunteers began building bed frames Thursday at the Mankato Makerspace.

Hilton Garden Inn donated around 100 queen and king mattresses, but they are still in need of twin mattresses. A number of businesses donated lumber for the frames.

The project coordinators are also looking for volunteers to help build Friday from 10 to 4 p.m. and those with trucks to deliver the beds Saturday and Monday.

The project also accepts monetary, bedding and new pillow donations.

"There's more people than you'd think around the Mankato, Janesville, St. Clair, Waseca area that need beds," Jennifer There are people, there are kids that sleep on the floor every night."
