This March marks the 20th anniversary of the 1998 tornado outbreak that ripped through Nicollet County.
Fourteen twisters moved through Comfrey, St. Peter and Le Center, claiming two lives and damaging more than 90 percent of the homes and businesses in St. Peter.

This spring, the Nicollet County Historical Society is looking to commemorate the event with help from the community.

The history center is looking to collect photos, videos and stories about the event, including the cleanup and rebuilding process that occurred months after.
"We're all neighbors around here. Everyone's really friendly. So, we look at disasters like this not necessarily as a damage but really as a way we come together with that Minnesota nice," Jessica Becker, Director of the Nicollet County Historical Society, says.
Items can be donated in person at the Treaty Site History Center Tuesday-Friday from 10 am - 4 pm and stories can be emailed to
