Arson Charges Filed in Granada House Fire
A man has been charged with arson in connection with a house fire in Martin County back in August.
That fire happened around 6:15 on the morning of August 18th, 2017.
A criminal complaint says a state trooper spotted smoke and found 49–year–old Robert Raphael Schultz at the back threshold of the burning home on the 300 block of South Main Street in Granada.
The complaint says Schultz was naked and resisted when the trooper tried to pull him away from the house, and had to be subdued.
No one was injured.
Investigators say the fire was started by pieces of wood, paper and a flammable agent placed inside the oven.
Schultz is charged with one count of arson and one count of damage to property.
He was previously charged with 4th degree assault for his scuffle with the trooper.
Schultz is in the Martin County Jail on $60,000 bond; his Rule 8 hearing is set for January 23rd.
