The Mankato East/Loyola boy's hockey team is now 9–8 and two following Thursday night's win over West.

Behind the squad's success is senior goaltender Jack Cusey.

KEYC News 12 Sports Rob Clark has more on why Cusey is our KEYC Scheels All Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.

Cougar senior, Jack Cusey, is saving over 93 percent of shots on goal this season.

The net–minder's suited up for the varsity squad since his freshman year and is the one his teammates turn to in close games.

"Great leader, you can't ask for a better leader, kind of guy that rallies everyone when times are good and when times are bad. He's even keel no matter what's going on. As far as skill set, he's fast, he's grown in size a lot since his 9th grade year, he's been a great goalie for four years, and hopefully he continues that in the future," said Adam Fries, Cougars head coach.

"In my opinion, the goalie can be the difference maker. He can win the games or lose the games, I like to win the games more. It's something about being a goalie that makes me like it. Whether it's making a big glove save, or a save to win the game last second. I like the adrenaline that it brings," said Cusey, Prep Athlete of the Week.

His leadership and dominance in net are why Jack Cusey is our KEYC Scheels All Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
