Bethany Lutheran College Hosts Fundraising Event For Student Athlete's Family
A fundraiser took place at halftime of the men's basketball game at Bethany Lutheran College tonight.
A fire at the Skrien family home in Nicollet on the morning of January 16th caused extensive damage and is almost a total loss. Emily Skrien is a basketball player for the Vikings so teammates and friends wanted to do something to help the family in this time of need. The day after the fire, those close to the family started planning the fund raising event.
"So tonight was just an opportunity for us as an entire campus the athletic department, the student body and the parents," Athletic Director Don Westphal said." "Everybody got united and found a way to maybe raise some funds and help the cause for the family and so far it has been a pretty good success by virtue of a couple different events we have going on and just some general free will offerings as well."
The various fundraising events happening included a free will bake sale and a tennis ball toss.
