At halftime, during Friday night's MSU men's basketball game, one person will have an opportunity to shoot a half court shot for $10,000.

The purpose of the shot is to help attract more fans to basketball games inside the Taylor Center.

Registration is open for everyone, not just students and one name will be drawn shortly after tip off.

It's unknown if this halftime special will take place again this season, but those on campus are eager to see if an activity like this will help entice the public and students to support Maverick Athletics.

MSU assistant athletic director for development and revenue generation Greg Weis said "We just think it'll get us more foot traffic, more talk ability. Hopefully, whoever gets drawn makes that shot and it goes viral and becomes a pretty easy marketing effort. For us to show how much fun and excitement we have going on at all of our sporting events whether they are on campus or downtown at Verizon."

MSU cheer captain Billey Knutson said "Definitely we always want more students to come out from a cheerleaders' standpoint. The more crowd involvement the better and I know it really gets the team up and going."

Tip off is Friday night at 8:00 p.m. vs Upper Iowa; along with the $10,000 half court shot, fans can also enjoy a cleanout sale that includes t–shirts, sunglasses, towels and other Maverick merchandise for just $1.

Fans can register online or inside the Taylor Center before the game.

For HS, college or MSU Alumni Cheerleaders, the Mavericks are hosting "Stunt Like A Maverick" for $5. The event will take place on Sunday, February 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside Bresnan Arena.
