THRIVE: Catholic Charities To Offer Caregiver Workshop In Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. -

Being a caregiver for a loved one can come with numerous challenges, including finding time for oneself. So, Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota in Mankato is offering a free workshop to help caregivers learn better self-care.

"Caregivers are the type of people that give of themselves daily and sometimes they forget about themselves," Mary Cassem with Catholic Charities said. "They need to learn how to help themselves, how to kind of deal with some of those unique challenges that comes with caring for their loved one."

That's why Catholic Charities is hosting a Powerful Tools for Caregivers workshop series, designed completely for caregivers.

"So that they are able to manage some of the unique challenges that come up with being a caregiver," Cassem said.

Those who take the course will learn about reducing stress, communicating effectively, and decision making.

"They'll also be exposed to the resources that are available right here in Mankato for caregivers that they don't even know about," she said.

The workshop begins Tuesday, March 13 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Catholic Charities in Mankato. It runs every Tuesday until April 17 and is free of charge.
