The Cleveland softball team is unbeaten in conference play this season with sophomore ace McKenna Robb sporting an earned run average under two.

Rob Clark has more on why she's our KEYC News 12 Prep Athlete of the Week  brought to you by Scheels.

The Clippers McKenna Robb is developing into a complete pitcher in the circle with a couple different strikeout pitches.

“I think my change has kind of thrown a lot of people off, and also my drop ball. I’ve been working pretty hard to make those three successful,” said Robb, prep athlete of the week.

“She’s been working on it a lot, we worked on it all winter with the pitching coach. Seeing her improve day by day is just amazing,” said Lexi Hollerich, Cleveland sophomore catcher.

Robb can also change a game with one swing of the bat, just last month the slugger smacked a walk-off grand slam against Mountain Lake Area.

“It was kind of a rush, I wasn’t really expecting it, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the rest of my team getting on base before me,” said Robb.

“You just know it’s going to go far, everyone has full confidence in her. Seeing the ball fly is amazing,” said Hollerich.

“You’re talking about a player that has all the tools when it comes to softball, she’s one of the most devastating hitters in our conference, hitting over .700 right now. Everything she hits, she hits hard, even the outs are hit hard. She’s really confident at the plate. Pitching, she throws really hard, and it’s been hard for hitters to pick up on that,” said Dan Fredrickson, Cleveland head coach.

Robb’s ability as a dual threat is why she’s our KEYC News 12 Prep Athlete of the Week  brought to you by Scheels.
