New numbers show Mankato's economy may have received a boost from Super Bowl weekend.

According to Visit Mankato, hotel stays went up 13 percent the Friday before the Super Bowl. On Super Bowl Sunday, there was a 10 percent increase.

Although the numbers cannot be specifically pinpointed to the Super Bowl, they were higher that weekend compared to past years.

"The boost tells you you've got more people spending the night in the community, meaning that they're going to be here for a little bit of a period of time, hopefully shopping, hopefully, eating, spending some money," Visit Mankato President Anna Thill said.

Thill said lower hotel prices and people wanting to explore the state could have brought more people to Mankato that weekend.
