NEW ULM, Minn. -- The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with the New Ulm Business and Retail Association to create some fun, out of the area's several road construction projects.

The organizations introduced Karl, the Construction Gnome.

Karl will be hidden in a different business, every week for 12 weeks, for people to find.

New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Audra Shaneman said the light-hearted program was created to keep people happy and shopping local, while bringing people into the area, in the midst of all the road construction.
"We were already going to do a campaign around construction, just really encouraging people to shop local," said Shaneman.

"And encouraging people to frequent the stores, they already know and love and keep doing that."
The group will release a hint on their Facebook page every Monday.

Those who find Karl, will receive $20 in Chamber Dollars. If you would like to see the clues, visit .
