JANESVILLE, Minn. - Crews were setting up carnival rides and games Thursday, getting ready for a Main Street filled with people for Janesville Hay Daze.

The carnival fun and games kick off Friday at 6 p.m., but one of the other main events, the Miss Janesville Pageant, takes place Thursday at 7 p.m. in the JWP Auditorium.

"It really is wonderful to see just how awesome they're going to do, how wonderful their stage presence is, and how we have to look forward to the awesome talent in our youth," pageant director Anna Burns said.

Four contestants are running for Miss Janesville and 16 for Little Miss Janesville.

There's a number of other events throughout the weekend, like a golf tournament Friday, a fun run Saturday and live bands at night.

"When people think Father's Day, they think Janesville Hay Daze, and people like to come to celebrate Father's Day and also the town celebration," fun run organizer Mike Cahill said.

Hay Daze lasts through Sunday, with a parade and a last chance to visit the carnival.
