Debra Hilstrom is one of five DFL candidates running for Minnesota Attorney General after Lori Swanson opted for the governor's race.

"I've served in the Minnesota House of Representatives for the last 18 years, working on issues of consumer protection and public safety. I've chaired the judiciary committee. I've served on the commerce committee. And then I've been a prosecutor for the Anoka County Attorney's Office. I resigned that position to run full-time for attorney general. I believe that Minnesotans need a strong voice in the attorney general's office, and I bring experience both in passing public policy as well as being in the court room," Hilstrom said.

Hilstrom faces a tough climb to grab the DFL nomination.

Matt Pelikan, who won the DFL endorsement in Rochester, and Representative Keith Ellison, Congressman for Minnesota's 5th District, have also opted to run for the state's top lawyer spot.
