Greater Mankato Area United Way held a round table discussion Tuesday to address the issue of sexual violence and the role of the community in its prevention.

Along with CADA, the United Way invited "Men and Masculine Folks"; a group focused on ending gender–based sexual violence to speak with community members about gender–based violence can be prevented through male engagement on the issue.

The group says one of its goals is to evolve practices about engaging men from different communities to help reduce sexual violence

"In terms of going forward I think that we could really do is really think about having these conversations in our family and being able to talk and educate each other." said Pheng Thao, Statewide Coordinator for MN Men and Masculine Folks.

United Way says these types of discussions help bring awareness to community issues while also facilitating action around such issue like gender–based sexual violence.
