North Mankato Council Authorizes Spring Lake Swim Facility Bid Changes
NORTH MANKATO, MINN - North Mankato city council is moving forward with upgrades to Spring Lake Park along with a couple other projects addressed at tonight's meeting.
In March, the city accepted a bid of over $2 million to make improvements on the pool.
The council authorized staff tonight to go through with the changes to the bid which include a zero-depth entry to be used replacing the need for a proposed ADA–compliant ramp.
The two water slides (one open-flume and one toddler water slide) will be installed with the upgrades rather than at a later date.
A plastic liner on the floor rather than sand to ensure swimmer visibility and safety.
"We believe it's modernizing the facility in a way that's consistent with most people's expectations and something that will probably be an enhancement for watching an increased number of bather loads." said John Harrenstein, North Mankato City Administrator.
On Monday, city council also agreed to discuss a proposed subscription to a new solar garden in the next work session and also received an update on the north port industrial park expansion.
