'Red, Hot & Blue' Celebration Brings Crowd to Vetter Stone for Mankato Fireworks
MANKATO, MINN - The 8th Annual "Red, Hot & Boom" 4th of July celebration is withstanding the weather tonight downtown Mankato.
Residents looking for a great vantage point to enjoy tonight's fireworks could flock to the Vetter Stone Amphitheater at Riverfront Park for food, friends and fun.
Despite rain earlier today, the celebration kicked off Wednesday at 7 PM with the "Rockin' 4th of July Concert" featuring live music from City Mouse.
"It's a ton of fun you know, we've got the revamped amphitheater, everything looks great, it's working great." said Director of Verizon Center, Eric Jones. "We always put on a great fireworks show, it's a great place to be on the 4th of July."
Unless lightning or high winds occur, the city says fireworks will go on beginning at 10 PM in Mankato.
Veterans Memorial bridge is closed until 11 PM to accommodate the festivities.
