ST. PETER, Minn. -- Retail giant Amazon anticipates making 3 billion dollars in sales during its 36-hour Prime Day promotion. In St. Peter, the Nicollet County Historical Society hopes to make some money too, utilizing Amazon Smile.

Using Amazon Smile, shoppers can help charities simply by making regular purchases. If you're a Prime member, Amazon will donate .5 percent of any eligible purchase to one of its registered non-profits, such as the Historical Society.

Executive director of the Historical Society, Jessica Becker, said their proceeds from Amazon go toward things like building maintenance and weekly event funding.

"You're already clicking, you're already buying. Now you're just making the choice to send it to a great organization that does a lot of great community good," Becker said.

In addition to Smile, the Historical Society has its own Amazon wish list, with a link located on its Facebook page. It is comprised mainly of office supplies, that anyone can purchase any time to help.
