The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services will begin issuing the redesigned driver's licenses and ID cards in August.
The new design features a vertical card for anyone under 21 along with new security features to make them more difficult to forge.
DVS says you won't need to replace your current ID unless it's expiring or you need to change your name or address.
These  are not REAL IDs.
You'll be able to apply for a REAL-ID complaint card this October and you'll have until October of 2020 to use your standard license for federal purposes, including travel.
