The numbers are in and it looks like good news if you want to find a job.

The Mankato statistical area gained over 2,500 new jobs from June 2017 to June 2018.  1,600 of those new jobs were in the private sector.  This is the second highest growth rate, for June, in 20 years.

Mankato continues to lead the state in job growth, compared to other metropolitan areas.

John Considine, of Greater Mankato Growth, said: "We got a nice little streak of 6 months going, leading every month of 2018 and we're very optimistic that's going to be able to continue because employers are out there with a lot of opportunities."

The state gained 6,600 jobs in June.  Unemployment in Minnesota remains at 3.1%.  Nationwide unemployment is at 4%.
