If your workplace has any fluorescent bulbs to get rid of, you'll want to take part in Blue Earth County's bulb collection day tomorrow, July 25th.

Every year, Xcel Energy teams up with the county to offer reduced recycling fees.

Xcel Energy customers will receive free disposal for up to 10 light bulbs.

For more than 10 bulbs and for non–Xcel Energy customers, bulbs will be collected at reduced rates.

"Mercury is contained in fluorescent tubes so anytime your dispose of fluorescent tubes in your trash directly you are releasing mercury and mercury is one of your more toxic pollutants that we have out there," said Dave Kronlokken of Blue Earth County.

The bulb collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blue Earth County Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
