Greater Mankato Area United Way brought hundreds of women together to pledge their support for the organization in a big way.

A record-setting crowd of more than 600 attended the ninth annual Women with Heart Luncheon and raised a record $140,000.

The organization kicked off its 2019 campaign with a message on inclusion and acceptance.

"I hope women take away the idea that different does not less, that you can embrace people who are different than you. You don't have to be afraid you can make small changes in your businesses to make it more inclusive for people," keynote speaker and disability advocate, Melanie VanRoekel said.
The goal is to raise $2,050,000 in 2019, all proceeds will benefit United Way's programs throughout Blue Earth, Nicollet, Le Sueur and Waseca Counties.
