This is now the 5th, and largest, Love in Mankato event.

“It’s growing and growing every year and it’s really because the community is starting to expect it, they are knowing who we, they are trusting us and they want to be a part of giving back to the community," said event organizer Priscilla Coffee.

Love in Mankato gives away all kinds of needs for families while providing a fun, free atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Objects given away include clothing, diapers and essentials for the upcoming school year.

“So we gave away today over 600 bags of school supplies," explained Coffee.  "Backpacks that were filled with school supplies.  It was amazing even through this crazy rain!”

Various activities were set up throughout Sibley Park.

People could sit down and grab a bite to eat with some free burgers, hot dogs and snow cones.

Others decided to play the mini-carnival games, play around by the dunk tank, get their face painted or even have a balloon animal made for them.

Obviously a lot of volunteers are needed for an event like this to run smoothly.  Coffee had no problems getting people to help out.

“When I ask people they say “what do you need me to do?”  Amazing people!  Amazing.  We have an amazing community,” exclaimed Coffee.

Even with the rainy weather, hundreds showed out leaving many to wonder just how many more will show up next year if the weather cooperates.
