Earlier this year, a bonding bill was authorized for almost $1.5 billion in public construction across Minnesota. Included in that was $830,000 for Highway 169 levee reconstruction, of which the city of North Mankato has committed $85,000 to.

The estimated $3.3 million project, will raise Highway 169 north of Highway 14 by about a foot near the Minnesota River meeting federal standards.
Mankato City Council approved $1.7 million toward the project and the Minnesota Department of Transportation is set to pay a similar amount.

Construction is set to begin at the end of the month and last until November.
