Ground Breaks For Waseca County Veteran's Memorial
WASECA, MINN - Ground is broken on the new Waseca County Veteran's Memorial
Six tablets each displaying 256 names will make up the new memorial outside of the Waseca County Courthouse.
Veterans from all wars will be honored at the site and new names will be added every year.
The memorial has room to grow up to eight tablets as names are added.
Groundbreaking and building on the project has been delayed multiple times over the last five years.
"It is an exciting time to actually know that the dream of many veterans and citizens of Waseca County," said Gary Bohm, Waseca County American Legion Adjutant. "This dream will finally become a reality. On behalf of all county veterans, we say 'thank you' and let the digging begin."
If you are a veteran in Waseca County or related to one, you are eligible to be included on the memorial.
The deadline to be included this year is August 15th and the grand reveal is hoped to be held on Veterans Day later in 2018.
Plaques cost $200 per name and applications can be picked up at Veteran's Services at the Waseca County Courthouse in Waseca.
Donations are also accepted at the Veteran's Services office.
