Authorities say a dog has died after an incident involving a deputy in Clay County, Iowa.
Police responded to a civil situation between a tenant and another person at a property on 480th Street in Webb last week.
Authorities say while the deputy was investigating the situation, the tenant's bull mastiff dog lunged at the officer and bit him on the leg.
Police say the deputy then drew his service weapon and shot the dog in self-defense.
The deputy was taken to a clinic in Spencer to be treated for a leg injury.
The dog was taken to the vet for medical attention, but police say it died from the wound.
No charges have been filed in the case.
