Mankato City Council Voting On Treatment Plant Improvements
MANKATO, MN - The City Council will vote on a resolution to hire an engineering firm that will design improvements to the city's water treatment facility.
According to the city, the plant has become inadequate, with many components constructed back in the 1950s.
The designs will be used to qualify for the Public Facilities Authority Clean Water Revolving fund. The city hopes to begin construction in 2020.
Hiring the engineering firm will cost $630,000. The planning and design is estimated to run $4.5 million. The entire cost of the project is at around $30 million.
