North Mankato Standoff Ends With One in Custody
NORTH MANKATO - According to the North Mankato Police Department, just before 8 p.m. Friday evening, a man brandished a weapon at two juveniles. The man then retreated into his home in the 200 block of Cross Street.
Deputies from Nicollet and Blue Earth County and officers with the North Mankato and Mankato Police Departments along with the Minnesota State Patrol arrived at the residence and when the suspect refused to answer his phone or come to the door, the tactical team was called to the scene. For almost three hours officers attempted to make contact until the suspect left the home on his accord just before midnight and was taken into custody.
He is being charged with assault and making terroristic threats. No one else was inside the home and police have not released the name of the individual at this time. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
