(MADISON LAKE) -- Madison Lake's city administrator says the city will now look into a racially charged statement by its police chief while off-duty.

An anonymous tip to both the city and KEYC News 12 on Monday brought attention to the video some say is racist.

Chief Dan Bunde posted the video on his Facebook page while on vacation at Yellowstone National Park in July.

On Monday, City Administrator Curt  Kephart said the chief and police department had the city's full support and would not be looking into the matter.

Today, Kephart released a statement saying in part, " The city has no control over what individuals post to their individual social media accounts.  Individual posts do not speak for the City of Madison Lake.  The City of Madison Lake will review and take appropriate action if action is deemed warranted."

Chief Bunde is a 20 year member of the Madison Lake Police Department.

Here is the full statement from city administrator Curt Kephart:

“The City of Madison Lake, MN was recently made aware of a video posted by Dan Bunde to his personal Facebook account while Mr. Bunde was on vacation in Wyoming.  Mr. Bunde is the Chief of Police of the city.  The city has no control over what individuals post to their individual social media accounts.  Individual posts do not speak for the City of Madison Lake.  The City of Madison Lake will review and take appropriate action if action is deemed warranted.”
