Inner Ear Problems Could Lead To Falls For Seniors
MANKATO, MN - Seniors at the VINE adult center learned about living a balanced life, in order to prevent falls.
An audiologist from Mayo Mankato held a seminar to explain how inner ear problems can lead to dizziness and problems keeping your balance. Those issues can be caused by viral infections or even migraine headaches. Even small crystals inside your ear can become dislodged and rattle around, causing vertigo.
Audiologist Dr. Jenne Tunnell said: "Just because you're getting older doesn't mean that being dizzy is normal. So just like cataracts are more common in elderly people, you still don't leave the cataracts, you do something about it, and the same thing with dizziness."
Falls are one of the most common injuries for senior citizens, and in a lot of cases, they can be fatal.
