From one extra enforcement campaign to another, law enforcement across the state are making a point to keep the roads safe as we head into the fall season.
Beginning Monday, over 300 law enforcement agencies statewide will be on the lookout for unbelted drivers as part of the Click it or Ticket: Extra Seat Belt Enforcement.
This initiative comes at the heels of extra DWI enforcement on Minnesota roads, which lasted until Labor Day.
State safety officials say 78 unbelted motorists died on Minnesota roads last year.
There were also over 1200 life-changing injuries caused by unbelted motorists.
Children are also being put at risk.
State data shows from 2013 to 2017 18 children up to 7 years old were killed in crashes. Only nine of the victims were known to be properly restrained.
The click-it-or-ticket campaign runs until September 29.
