MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Mankato Golf Club has been a fixture in the community for 100 years now.
To celebrate, they are offering tee-times to the general public on Memorial Day weekend. This includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday for golfers to take the course, one that is generally private.General Manager Dave Torbenson says not only the great course, but the history of it should enough to lure any golfer in.
"100-year-old golf course is pretty rare. One that has been so special to the history of Mankato is one that I think people would like to see. That's why the membership at Mankato Golf Club have decided to open it up and share some of the great things that we have here and the beautiful golf course that has really stood the test of time."
To add to that history, the land Mankato Golf Club sits on was originally deeded to a Union Soldier by Abraham Lincoln.
